SEEING THROUGH SAVERNAKE

Explore life in England during World War II through the memories of young Peggy as she wanders through Savernake Forest and learns about her pre-WWII homeland, England. She vividly recounts memories and observations of fellow students at her Grammar School including William Golding (Nobel Prize winning author of “Lord of the Flies”) who she recalls “races expertly in the mud,” and notable visitors to her father’s marquetry shop who came to view and purchase his handmade furnishings, such as Mrs. Wedgewood, matriarch of the centuries old Wedgewood pottery family.
